MaryAnn Sung’s practice focuses on white collar defense and commercial litigation. She has represented individuals and companies in federal and state court in a variety of criminal, regulatory and complex civil matters. Most recently, Ms. Sung was a member of the trial team that obtained the acquittal of a hedge fund manager in a federal jury trial.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Sung was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and The Dontzin Law Firm LLP and worked with the U.S. Law & Security Program of Human Rights First as an associated staff attorney.

- Defense of former hedge fund manager in criminal and SEC actions for securities fraud, and related civil lawsuits and FINRA arbitrations;
- Defense of corporate executive in SEC action related to mutual fund investments in mortgage-backed securities;
- Securing injunction on behalf of investment funds against consumer products company for breach of financing agreements;
- Representation of investment funds in lawsuit to recover damages for breach of contract and breach of guarantee;
- Representation of manufacturer in adversarial bankruptcy proceedings;
- Defense of investment advisor against tortious interference claims;
- Defense of hedge fund against former employee’s breach of contract and whistleblower lawsuit; and
- Representation of broker dealer in connection with internal and regulatory market timing investigations.
