Deborah Shapiro is experienced in civil and commercial litigation
and employment law. She has represented clients in civil matters in
federal and state courts, before administrative agencies and in
connection with Alternative Dispute Resolution. She also has
experience advising clients on a variety of employment issues and
negotiating employment agreements.
From 1995 through 2002, Ms. Shapiro practiced employment law and
civil litigation in New York City, most recently with Nixon Peabody
LLP. She also gained mediation training and experience from Cornell
University and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission and is a member of the FINRA’s panel of arbitrators.
Ms. Shapiro graduated from Cornell Law School in 1995, with a
concentration in Business Law. She was the recipient of the Bureau
of National Affairs Law Student Award. She earned her B.A. summa cum
laude from Brandeis University in 1992, where she was elected to Phi
Beta Kappa and received the American Studies Departmental
Achievement Award. In 2003, Ms. Shapiro earned an M.B.A. from the
University of Oxford (Balliol College), where she was on the Dean’s
List.
